Murcia, the capital of the Province, is placed in the southern part of the Region. Murcia has been described as the most urban City in Europe.
Murcia gathers the enchantments of a city with a rich past and a splendid present. The peace and richness of nature, and its entertainment, communications and common services are excellent.
History: City of Arabian origin, settled on the banks of the Segura river.
Culture & Art: As regards Architecture, there is the Romea Theatre and the Victoria Hotel. The Churches of San Miguel, Santa Ana , Las Claras, and the Cathedral, of Gothic, Renaissance in Baroque styles, whereas in Sculpture Salzillo’s works, the most important artist regarding representations of the Passion and Death of Christ, shown in the processions of the Holy week, as well as the collections of the Nativity scene figures, very common at Christmas.
Gastronomy: Traditional tapas, meat pie, Murcian salad, rice and vegetables…
Climate: Spring begins with an annual average temperature of 18ºC and poor rains, what gives water much important, as it is the centre of a series of irrigation channels, which distribute the Segura river stream along the whole City.
